Ballast Controller - IDC2000

The IDC2000 ICs family integrates all the functions of low-cost, high performance networkable electronic ballasts into one single chip. the IDC2000 devices comprises all of the control and protection functions required by the ballast and lamps as well as an embedded power line carrier modem.

Lighting applications

Each lamp can be separately controlled to switch on and off , dimmed down to 1%, with its own independent protection and EOL (end of life) control.

Lamps will be driven with the highest specifications envisioned by the designers and standards.

Any Fluorescent (linear, compact, Electrodeless and others), HID, Halogen, Low Pressure, Neon and LED for residential, commercial, industrial building illumination, displays and street lighting.

Aimed for smart and "dumb" electronic ballasts and transformers.

Could be remote control type working in stand alone system or as a BMS network component.

Dimmable or non-dimmable solutions.

IDC2000 Capabilities for LEDs

  1. Simultaneous control of different modules:
    1. Independent control of up to 9 LED fixture driver
    2. Control of PFC module (continuous / discontinuous mode)
    3. Control of battery charger and back up supply
  2. Adjustment of control system for different power topologies (buck buck-boost, etc.) and various control schemes (continuous current mode, peak current mode).
  3. Closed loop control of LEDs current (LEDs light output) as function of LED junction temperature.
  4. Realization of the multi parametric control algorithms to achieve efficient dimming without spectral shift of the light. Modes are modified on-the-fly during the entire dimming range like continuous current at high light level, changing to PWM at lower light levels.
    1. PWM mode (low light level)
    2. Mixed algorithm (medium light level)
    3. Full continuous mode (high light level)
  5. It is possible to increase the switching frequency in the range of 200 - 1500kHz to reduce ripple current and power efficiency.
  6. Flexible system adjustment for different LEDs parameters:
    1. light vs. current
    2. light vs. temperature
    3. forward current vs. voltage and temperature
  7. External interface can be realized by means of power line only (on-chip Power Line Carrier modem)
  8. Compatibility with high frequency power stage (fsw up to 1.5MHz)to reduce cost/size of magnetic and ripple of LEDs current
  9. Capability to programmed lighting scheme for regular and emergency lighting
