PDK PC Software Design Tool
The PDK is a design tool developed to upload the configuration files from the PDK-FL library of designs into the IDC2000 controller device and operate the desired ballast scenario (power topology and control functions). This design tool allows the power engineer to fine tune ballast performances to the desired characteristics during the development process of the end product by adjusting the parameters of the control functions and "matching" the controller to the power components. The designer can modify the parameters on-the-fly in a fully protected environment and, in real time, monitor their influences on the power circuit signals and lamp parameters during the warm up, ignition and dimming stages.

Software Service Programs
In addition, the Lighting Evaluation Kit includes service software programs for the customer to test self-developed applications. One program tests the Bit Error Rate of the powerline communication based on Systel PLC-Link technology and the modem embedded in the IDC2000. Another, the Network Communication Test", a field test "ping program" checks the quality of the powerline command transmission in the field in both directions between ballasts and remote controllers.
These service programs enable the designer, by using the WCU commanding the ballast evaluation board, to learn about the basic building block of a lighting control system by operating the PLC communication. This building block will facilitate the designer in examining the capabilities of its PLC interface solutions, implemented in these boards as a reference design, as well as in testing the PLC characteristics of his own products based on the IDC2000 in the laboratory and in the field as mentioned above.
